TikTok Shop Supplement Requirements: The Document Checklist
TikTok Shop is the fastest channel for a new supplement brand and the strictest on paperwork. Dietary supplements are a “qualified” category: you cannot list until every document is uploaded and accepted, and one missing file means an automatic rejection. Here is the list, what each document is, and who provides it.
Why TikTok Shop is stricter than you expect
Supplements are health products sold through short videos to a young audience, and the platform has had public problems with adulterated and mislabeled products. Its answer is a per-product review before listing: label, lab test, manufacturer compliance, seller identity. The review is document-based, so a brand with the right folder passes in days; a brand without it can spend a month in back-and-forth.

What gets rejected
- Claims. Disease words in the product name, label or listing: cure, treat, anxiety, depression, detox, weight loss, testosterone, “boosts immunity”. Structure/function language with the disclaimer is fine.
- Label mismatch. The uploaded label differs from the product photo or the listing (different count, missing disclaimer).
- COA problems. Lab not recognised, COA older than the platform’s window, an active outside tolerance, or the COA is for a different product or count.
- Missing facility proof. A sourcing agent that cannot produce the factory’s cGMP or FDA registration.
- Restricted categories. Sexual enhancement, weight-loss stimulants, height growth, products with pharmaceutical ingredients. These are refused outright — and a factory that makes them is a red flag for every product it makes.
Two COAs: factory batch COA vs US third-party test
A factory batch COA (potency, heavy metals, microbial, water activity for gummies) is issued with every order and is what most categories accept. For some products and for sellers TikTok Shop flags, a test from a US accredited (ISO 17025) lab is requested. It costs a few hundred dollars per SKU and takes two to three weeks; we arrange it on request and it is worth doing for your best-selling SKU regardless — Amazon may ask for the same thing.
Timeline to first listing
- Order placed → factory sends cGMP certificate, FDA registration confirmation and label template (day 1).
- Label designed and checked (week 1–2).
- Sample approved, production (30 days); batch COA issued at release.
- US third-party test if required (2–3 weeks, can overlap with freight).
- Upload the pack; review typically 2–7 days.
