Private Label Supplements With No Minimum Order: What It Really Means
Search “private label supplements no minimum order” and you get two kinds of results: on-demand platforms that genuinely have no minimum, and factories that say “low MOQ” and mean 1,000. This article explains what each option actually costs, so you can choose by stage rather than by headline.

What “no minimum” costs you
On-demand platforms are honest about having no minimum; what they do not put on the homepage is where the cost moves. It moves into the unit price — typically two to three times what the same bottle costs from a factory at 100–300 units — and into a monthly subscription. It also moves into control: the formula is fixed, the sugar content is whatever the catalog uses, and the label is a template. For a test, none of that matters. For a business selling 100+ units a month, it is the largest expense you have.
There is a second, quieter cost: the documents. Platform-fulfilled products come with the platform’s manufacturer paperwork, which usually satisfies a marketplace review. But the COA is not for your batch, and when a distributor or retailer asks for a document pack in your brand’s name, you do not have one.
What a 100-unit minimum costs you
A hundred units of a 60-count gummy, with your label, is a few hundred dollars of product plus a sample fee (credited on the order) and courier freight. It is small enough to fit in a closet and large enough to send review units, run a launch and still have stock. The unit price is lower than on-demand; the paperwork is yours; the formula can be adjusted.
The costs are time and attention: 7 days for a sample, 30 days for production, and you need somewhere to ship it — a 3PL, Amazon FBA, or your own garage for the first run. If you cannot wait eight weeks or do not want to hold 100 units, on-demand is still the better tool.
Why most factories cannot do 100 units
Three reasons, and they explain why the ones that can are rare:
- Label printing. If labels are outsourced, there is a plate fee and a minimum print run of a few thousand. We print in-house, which is why a 100-unit label change is free.
- Line setup. A gummy or softgel run has fixed setup time. Factories that only run 5,000-unit batches are not staffed for short changeovers.
- Formulation risk. A new formula needs stability work regardless of quantity. That is why even at a low-MOQ factory, custom actives start higher (300 units here) while stock formulas start at 100.
Questions to ask any “low MOQ” supplier
- Is the minimum per SKU or per order? (Per SKU is what matters.)
- Is the label included at that quantity, or is there a plate or setup fee?
- Is the price at 100 units published or quoted, and does it fall at 300 and 500?
- Do I get a COA for my batch, and cGMP and FDA registration in the document pack?
- What can I change at the minimum — flavor, count, packaging — and what needs a higher quantity?
Picking by stage
- Idea, no audience yet: on-demand. Learn what sells before you buy anything.
- Audience, first product: 100 units of one or two SKUs. Real product, real documents, manageable risk.
- Selling 100+ a month: 300–500 units per SKU, sea freight, custom tweaks. This is where margin appears.
- Multi-SKU brand: 1,000+ per SKU and custom formulation, wherever the best price is.
